AES 2020-2021 Back to School Parent Letter

 
Dear AES Families,
 
With the 2020-2021 school year quickly approaching, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System is working continuously to ensure multiple learning plans are in place. The goals of the EBR School System are to keep employees and students safe, and to ensure that virtual learning is as authentic as learning in a traditional classroom setting. Although the approach for the upcoming year will be primarily dictated by guidance from the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE), students can expect face-to-face learning (using social distancing guidelines), virtual learning or a blended approach, which combines the two delivery methods. 
 
As the principal of Audubon Elementary School, my goal is to ensure that your child has a rigorous and engaging learning experience. To that point, the virtual instructional delivery method for the upcoming school year may reflect a different platform from the enrichment activities which began in March.  If you select the virtual component for this year, we will do our best to replicate the learning experience that you expect from Audubon Elementary School.
 
As you are making decisions about the virtual experience, please remember that all students will need to attend all online classes as designed by their teachers.  Designated assignments and tests will be graded and reflected in your child’s grade which is recorded in the student progress center.  This will give parents the opportunity to monitor their child’s progress, just as if they were in a traditional classroom setting.  Additionally, teachers will have office hours to assist students and families.
 
In an effort to make plans for this fall, it is imperative that we know which students are planning to return to school face-to-face, and which students plan to attend school virtually.  Please complete this google form no later than July 6th to reflect your interest in your child attending virtually or face-to-face. Students attending the virtual school will need to attend a virtual orientation and pick up chromebooks and materials at a time TBD. 
 
The future has a myriad of unknowns that make static decision-making nearly impossible. Thank you in advance for your understanding, patience, and flexibility. We appreciate you for entrusting us to meet your child’s academic needs, and look forward to a successful, yet different school year.
